Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College sophomore catcher Brett Bozeman (Buchholz High School) has committed to play for Mississippi State University of the Southeastern Conference, Saints Head Coach Johnny Wiggs announced.

Bozeman can not officially sign a letter of intent until the NCAA early signing period in November.

As a freshman, Bozeman was named the Mid-Florida Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the MFC First Team.  He finished the season with a .317 average in 49 games with 14 doubles and 38 RBI.  he is expected to be a big part of the 2010 version of the Saints and will attempt to help the team win another MFC and State Championship.

“Brett did an outstanding job for us last season both offensively and defensively.  He threw out 45% of the runners attempting to steal against him, which is a very, very good number,” said Johnny Wiggs.  “We are very excited for his opportunity to play in the SEC and for a top level program like Mississippi State.  We look forward to having him back this season, and also look forward to his future career at MSU.”

MSU, located in Starkeville, MS, is coached by John Cohen who is in his second year with the Bulldogs.  Last season the team finished with an uncharacteristic losing record of 25-29, their second season in a row under .500.  The Bulldogs hadn’t had back to back losing seasons since the 1974 and 1975 campaigns.
