Voices, Minds and Hearts: The Haiti Project Published on Thursday, Apr. 5, 2012

Nearly a thousand miles separate the streets of Jacmel, Haiti, and its sister city of Gainesville. But the music, dance, art and spoken words of the former is coming to life in the latter in a new Santa Fe College production called “The Haiti Project.”

“The Haiti Project,” a new multi-media production, combines live music, poetry and puppetry arts with theatrical elements to salute the people, spirit and art of Haiti.

Performances at 7:30 p.m. run through Saturday at SF’s Fine Arts Hall, and a gala reception for Friday’s performance also will feature music and a silent auction of Haitian and local art to benefit the artists and artists’ cooperatives featured in the production.
