Gainesville, FL – On Sunday the NJCAA released the seedings for the National Tournament and the Santa Fe Saints came in at No. 9 of 16.  Their first round matchup is against No. 8 seed Wallace State CC on Wednesday, May 15 at 4:00 PM (all game times listed are Mountain Time).  Every game of the tournament can be seen live on www.ihigh.com/njcaatv

Santa Fe, winners of Region 8A, will arrive in St. George, Utah with a 41-17 record.  FCSAA Pitcher of the Year Karla Claudio leads the charge for SF, hitting .443 with a school record 17 homeruns and 54 RBI.  In the circle she is 21-6 with a 1.07 ERA and 222 strikeouts in 169.2 innings of work.

Wallace State enters the tournament with a 50-11 record and qualified by winning the NJCAA Region 22 tournament.  They are led by sophomore outfielder Katie Gentle who is hitting .484 with 14 homeruns, 24 doubles and 64 RBI, and freshman catcher Kori Benson who is hitting .366 with 20 homeruns and 56 RBI.

The Saints and Lions last met at the 2008 NJCAA Tournament.  Wallace State defeated SF in the National Championship game 5-3 to take home the 2008 crown, the schools lone NJCAA title.  They finished third in 2012 and runner-up in 2009 and 2010.

Santa Fe’s only trip to the national tournament was in 2008.  The Saints were the No .1 seed and advanced to the championship game after dropping their first round game.  SF won 62 games that season, a school record.

The winner of Wednesday’s first round match with play on Thursday, May 16 at 5:00 PM and the loser will play on Thursday at 2:30 PM.  The tournament is double elimination.
