Earth Day Luncheon in honor of Marjorie Carr

Keynote speaker: Peggy McDonald, author of “Marjorie Harris Carr: Defender of Florida’s environment”
 Marjorie Carr was a member of many local environmental groups and a founder of FDE. She helped to get Payne’s Prairie set aside as a state park and was a fierce advocate for the Ocklawaha River. For 35 years, she led a coalition of citizen activists in the campaign to protect and restore the river that was successful in having the Army Corps of Engineers Cross Barge Canal project cancelled.
This luncheon is hosted by The Cultural Arts Coalition, Sierra Club, Association of Women in Science, Florida Defenders of the Environment, and Alachua Audubon Society
