Santa Fe College Sets School Record For Wins

A pair of records were broken Wednesday afternoon at SF Field as the Santa Fe Saints downed the Florida State College-Jacksonville Blue Wave 5-3 for their 38th win of the year, a new school record. Troy Bacon also got in the action, notching his 14th save of the season, also a new record.

The NJCAA #3/FCSAA #1 Saints (38-7, 19-4 MFC) staked starter David Lee to an early 1-0 lead, and he cruised through his planned three innings of work without allowing a hit. Alex Kennell followed him up with two scoreless frames before the Blue Wave finally broke through for a run off Ricky Miranda in the seventh. By that time it was 5-1 SF thanks to RBI by Alex Goebel and Chad Stockdale in the fourth, and an RBI by Brandon Hernandez to go along with a run scored via error.

Bacon entered the game with two outs and two runners on, allowing one hit and two runs before recording the final out for his 14th save. The two runs were charged to reliever Robert Girgis.

The Saints final regular season game of the season is on Friday, April 22 at home at 3:00 PM.

SF has already qualified for the FCSAA Tournament on May 15-20 in Lakeland. Their first game will take place against a team to be announced on May 15 at 7:00 PM.
