SANTA FE SAINT SEASON COMES TO AN END IN LOSS TO HARFORD, 7-4

The Santa Fe Saints hadn’t lost back to back games all season until Sunday afternoon, when they fell to the Harford CC Fighting Owls 7-4 in an elimination game at the JUCO World Series.

“I’m really proud of my guys, just obviously disappointed with the result today,” Coach Johnny Wiggs said.  “But if you are going to end your season, you want it to end in Grand Junction.”

Harford jumped all over SF starter David Lee, chasing him after just one out in the first inning. The Owls plated four in the first frame to take a 4-0 lead.

SF answered with three in the second on RBI by Tyler Kinney and Cole Parks. Kinney later scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-3 game.

Harford put three more on the board in the third for all the runs they would need. Cole Parks scored a run in the ninth for the Saints, but the rally was not to be as SF fell by three.

Harford moves on to face the winner of Delgado and Darton.

The Saints finish their season with a school record best 42-10 record, a Mid-Florida Conference Championship, and a FCSAA State Championship.
