Ben Lusk’s “The Speculative Turn” on Display at the President’s Hall

The Santa Fe College President’s Hall Gallery is proud to present, The Speculative Turn, paintings by Gallery Assistant Ben Lusk. Speaking of his work Lusk says, “The speculative turn denotes a shift in 21st century philosophy away from the anti-realism of the 20th. Speculative Realists turn away from linguistics and critical theory in favor of metaphysics and the ontology of objects. My paintings are analogous to some of these new directions in philosophy. Art in the post-modern philosophical climate has been correlated with new theories and new perspectives and art history has rightly embraced these new forms. My paintings assert little more than the material presence of an aesthetic object and represent little more than a viewer’s familiarity with painting of the modern past”.

The Speculative Turn, will be on display through August 26th. The President’s Hall is located on the second floor of the Robertson Administration Building, and is open Monday  – Friday, 8:00 AM through 4:30 PM.  Please contact the Art Gallery office at 395-5464 with any questions or concerns.
