SF BASEBALL SAINTS SWEEP PAST SOUTH FLORIDA STATE, 11-4 AND 6-3

Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #8/FCSAA #2 Santa Fe Saints continued their winning ways Saturday in Avon Park, sweeping a double header to move to 10-3 on the season, pushing their streak to five victories in a row.

The offense exploded in the first game, racking up 11 runs on 12 hits.  Dillon Reed continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Cleanup hitter Wyatt Meisterhans knocked two doubles and had three RBI, and Alex Goebel had two hits.  Leo Rodriguez picked up the win on the mound.

Game two started slow for the Saints and looked like it was going to go South Florida’s way.  The Panthers built a 3-1 lead against starter Mitch Campion heading into the final inning.

In the top of the seventh, the SF bats finally came to life.  The Saints plated five runs on three hits, the big blow coming from Jeff Misener who knocked in to insurance runs after Santa Fe College took the lead on a passed ball.

Troy Bacon led the offense with two hits, and also pitched a perfect seventh inning for his sixth save of the year.

The Saints next game will be at home Monday, Feb. 13 against Polk State College at 3 p.m.
