The Florida Brain Bowl (Academic Quiz) East Central regional championships were hosted by the College of Central Florida (CF) in Ocala Saturday, Feb. 11. Regional championship tournaments are held at four locations throughout the state (East Central, Panhandle, South and West Central) and the regional champions and first runners-up of each region automatically qualify for the state championships, which will be held in Panama City Beach this year from March 30 through April 1.
The host team (CF) became the East Central Regional Champions, while Santa Fe College placed second, ensuring a spot at the state championships.
Two members of the Santa Fe College team placed in the top 5 individually. Team captain Noah Bush who was awarded Brain Bowl Student of the Month by the Florida College System Student Activities Association (FCSAA) just two months ago placed second in the individual rankings, while Blake Stefanelli placed fourth.
