SAINTS PICK UP TWO BIG WINS OVER ST. PETERSBURG, 11-8 AND 9-2

Feb. 16, 2017

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe College Saints won one the hard way in the first game of a double header on the road at St. Petersburg College (11-8), rallying from a 7-0 deficit to win 11-8. The second game was also a come from behind win after the Titans went ahead 2-0 in the first inning, but that’s all they would score as SF ran off nine straight runs to complete the two game sweep. The wins move the Saints to 9-4 on the season.

Game one appeared to be a lost cause for Santa Fe early on as they fell behind 7-0 through three innings. SF refused to give in and in the fifth inning exploded for six runs and then added five in the sixth to take the lead.

Autumn Green would finish out the game in relief of Paola Flores and earn the win, allowing three runs over 6.1 innings, doing her job to keep the game within reach.
Shailynn Morales led the offense, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Adrix Paradizo, Cassandra Garcia, and Natalia Bellinger all had two hits apiece. As a team the Saints produced 11 hits.

In game two the big inning was again beneficial to SF. After falling behind 2-0 in the first, the Saints put five runs up in the third, a run in the fifth, and three in the seventh. Natalia Bellinger provided a big blow, smashing a homerun to tie the game in the third after Haissette Escuerdo doubled with one out.

In all the Saints had 14 hits, giving them 25 on the night. Bellinger finished with four hits, three RBI and two runs scored, Bailee Moll was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI, Evelyn Arguelles was 2-for-5 with two RBI, and Cassandra Garcia was 2-for-4.

Santa Fe, winners of four of their last five games, will be at home Saturday against South Florida State College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
