August 2, 2017 – The Santa Fe College Upward Bound Program wrapped up another successful summer session last month. The academic portion ran from June 12 – July 14. The students received ‘head start’ instruction in English, Math, Science and Spanish with weekly Friday day-trips to the Harn Art Museum, the Perry Center in Alachua, and the Matheson History Museum. They also had an opportunity to visit the SF Kika Silva Pla Planetarium for a wonderful presentation. The week of July 17, the students went on an educational trip to Tallahassee. There, they were given guided tours of FAMU and FSU along with visiting the Magnet Lab, the Challenger Learning Center and the Florida Capitol.
Upward Bound is a federally-funded program that serves low-income high school students who are potential first generation college students. The program serves students from Bradford and Newberry High Schools.
