Santa Fe College Fine Arts Department 2017-2018 Performance Schedule

August 2, 2017 – Mark your calendars now! Most events are held at 7:30 p.m. in the SF Fine Arts Hall (FAH) unless otherwise indicated.

Except for the Master Artist series, FAH tickets are $15 for adults in the orchestra section and $12 in the balcony; tickets for UF students, seniors over 60, and children under 12 are $9; and tickets for Santa Fe College students, faculty, and staff are free with a valid SFID. Master Artist Series ticket prices vary.

2017 Performances

Sept. 10 (3 p.m.): Master Artist Series/Ethan Bortnick. This multitalented young man is a pianist, composer, singer, entertainer, actor and driven humanitarian who is committed to combining his musical pursuits with charity work.

Sept. 28: Santa Fe College Winds and Classics. Santa Fe Wind Ensemble directed by Professor Steve Bingham.

Sept. 29: Santa Fe College Piano Professor Mitch McKay in Concert.

Oct. 19-21: War of the Worlds. The H. G. Wells story, adapted in a famous radio play by director Orson Welles in 1938, now brought to life on stage by Theatre Santa Fe.

Oct. 26: Master Artist Series/Black Label Movement (BLM). Minnesota-based dance company focused on pushing the integrated mind-body-heart to the edge of what’s possible.

Oct. 27: Florida Dance Association Young Dancer’s Workshop Program A.

Oct. 28: Florida Dance Association Young Dancer’s Workshop Program B.

Nov. 8-11: Florida Theatre Conference. Conference performance passes will be available at the check-in counter.

Nov. 14: SF Student Piano Recital.

Nov. 16: An Evening of Jazz. The Santa Fe Big Band, Jazz Combo, and Rhythm & Blues Band, directed by Professor Steve Bingham, performing traditional jazz arrangements.

Nov. 27: Winds and the Holidays. Santa Fe Wind Ensemble directed by Professor Steve Bingham (at The Village).

Nov. 30: Songs of the Season. Santa Fe Singers directed by Professor Lynn Sandefur.

Dec. 2 (2 p.m. and 6 p.m.): Holiday at Santa Fe. Enjoy a fun-filled day in the Fine Arts Hall with refreshments in the lobby, a great musical performance in the theatre, and a chance to meet Santa Claus after a bit of winter wonderland magic. A holiday tradition for the whole family!

 

2018 Performances

Jan. 20: Master Artist Series/Carmen Suite. Cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso’s full ballet featuring Adiarys Almeida and Taras Dimitro.

Feb. 9-10: Harlem Quartet. Multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-talented international performers whose mission is to diversify and create new audiences for classical music (SF Cultural Programs event).

Feb. 14: Valentine’s Day Swing Dance. A swing dance class at 6:30 p.m. followed by the sounds of the Santa Fe Big Band at 7:30 p.m. Dance the night away in the lobby of the Fine Arts Hall!

Feb. 15-16: Master Artist Series/Beatrice Coron. Visual artist.

Feb. 20: Master Artist Series/The Habana Boys. Four outstanding classically trained tenors.

Feb. 28: Sousa Concert. SF Concert Band directed by Professor Steve Bingham (Building E Auditorium).

Mar. 23-24: Elements of Style. Dance Theatre of Santa Fe performs works in a variety of styles created by guest artists and SF College Dance Department faculty members.

Apr. 10: Spring Winds. Santa Fe Wind Ensemble directed by Professor Steve Bingham.

Apr. 12: Jazz Up Spring. A cool concert of hot jazz features the Santa Fe Jazz Band under the direction of Professor Steve Bingham.

Apr. 19: SF Student Piano Recital.

April 20: Master Artist Series/Sam Haywood. Pianist in concert.

Apr. 26: Sing Into Spring. Santa Fe Singers directed by Professor Lynn Sandefur.

May 24-25 and May 31-June 2: “Working”.  Theatre Santa Fe presents the musical based on Studs Terkel’s book, Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do.
