Saints Fall Baseball Opener Canceled Due to Weather

Saints fall ball opener cancelled due to rain.

October 2, 2017 – The Santa Fe Saints baseball team will have to wait until Wednesday to see their first action of the fall. Sunday’s scheduled opener against the Orlando Scorpions was canceled due to weather.

The Saints will take the field Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they host St. John’s River State College at 2 p.m.

The Saints return just eight players from last year’s MFC Championship team and the SF coaching staff expects there to be some stiff competition for multiple positions.

“The guys are excited to get going and play someone else, not just intrasquad,” said seven-time Mid-Florida Conference Coach of the Year Johnny Wiggs.  “We have a really new team with only a handful of guys that played significantly for us last season.  Early this fall we’ve focused on getting our guys into baseball shape and teaching them the Santa Fe way of practicing and preparing.  It will be a very competitive fall with a lot of roster spots and positions up for grabs.”

SF will host nine different teams during the fall including Hillsborough CC and Tallahassee CC, in preparation for the spring regular season.

Admission is free to all Santa Fe College baseball games.  The concession stand will be open, serving food and drinks.
