Last Day for Penny Wars 2017

November 9, 2017 – Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 is the last day for Penny Wars 2017. Penny wars is a fundraising effort at Santa Fe College for the United Way of North Central Florida.

The rules of Penny Wars, a battle between SF students and SF staff, are quite simple. There are collection jars set up across the Northwest Campus for each team, change adds points to a teams’ score while paper money takes points away. If a student puts a quarter in the student jar, the students get 25 points, if a student puts a five-dollar bill in the staff jar, the staff loses 500 points. Click the link to see the a more complete description of the Penny Wars 2017 Rules of Engagement.

When the war is over the jars will be collected and the scores will be totaled. If the students end up with more points than the staff, Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Naima Brown will end up with a pie in her face, courtesy of the SF students. If the staff ends up with more points, Student Body President Cale McCall will get the pie in the face.

Currently, the students have a lead of nearly 7500 points, so at the risk of losing journalistic impartiality, it’s time for the staff to start stuffing dollar bills in the student jars!

Collection jars can be found at Café 101, Domino’s, the SF Bookstore, Building S lobby, Subway and at the Visitor Information Desk in the Administration Building.

The losing team will get the pie in the face Friday, Nov. 17.
