Holiday at Santa Fe - Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2 and 6 p.m. at the SF Fine Arts Hall

November 17, 2017 – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, the Sugar Plum Fairy, frolicking elves and Santa Claus himself will all help to usher in the spirit of the season in two performances of the annual “Holiday at Santa Fe” celebration at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, in the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall.

Children 12 and under are admitted free and there must be at least one adult for every three children. Adult tickets are $15 in the orchestra and mezzanine, $12 in the balcony, and $9 for seniors. Tickets may be purchased at sfcollege.edu/finearts. Call the Box Office at 352-395-4181 to reserve free tickets for children.

“’Holiday at Santa Fe’ is touched with winter wonderland magic and it’s a fun tradition for the whole family,” said SF Fine Arts Department Chair Alora Haynes, who organizes the performances. “This event spotlights our talented performing arts students in dance, music, and theatre and, at the same time, offers the gift of a joyful celebration to our community.”

Members of the Dance Theatre of Santa Fe portray sweets throughout the world from the second act of “The Nutcracker” ballet. Ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Kingdom of Sweets includes chocolate from Spain, tea from China, coffee from Arabia, candy canes from Russia, and the enchanting Mother Caramel and her marshmallows.

The Santa Fe Singers will perform a holiday tune and scampering elves will enliven the action. Santa Claus will pay a visit. There are even rumors of snow!

After the program, children will gather in the lobby to create winter holiday crafts, including ornaments and dreidels, and to enjoy cookies and beverages with Santa, the elves and other characters in the show.
