Saints Fall to Indian River in High Scoring Affair 85-80

November 28, 2017 – The Santa Fe Saints and Indian River State Pioneers played a fast-paced high scoring game Monday evening in Fort Pierce, combining for 165 points in the IRSC 85-80 victory.

SF jumped out early on to a 12 point lead and led 38-35 at the half, but a 50 point second half paced the Pioneers to the big victory.

“We turned it over too many times and missed a lot of open shots over the last 10 minutes of the first half to let them back in it,” said SF Coach Chris Mowry. “We had some chances at the end of the game but couldn’t get the big bucket when we needed it.”

In defeat Darrell Jones had one of his best scoring nights as a Saint, going for 22 points. Alsean Evans finished with 21 points, Malik Morrow had 12, and Brady Fernandes chipped in 10.

The Saints (6-3) will head to Ft. Myers Friday for a weekend tournament at Florida Southwestern College. Friday, Dec. 1, they will battle the host Buccaneers at 7 p.m. They will have a quick turn around when they face Broward College at noon Saturday, Dec. 2.
