Boo at the Zoo
Published: 4 Sep 2009, by: Jess Delaney
Witches, goblins, ghosts ... and monkeys? Yes, that's right. You're invited to trick-or-treat at the Santa
Fe College Teaching Zoo's Boo at the Zoo Halloween event from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31st.
Boo at the Zoo brings together people of all ages for a fun, safe, and generous Halloween adventure. The entire zoo is decorated in "spooktacular" Halloween themes and the zoo's 10-acre forest will glow with lights strung along its trails. Student zookeepers are handing out more than 92,000 pieces of candy at 12 candy stations around the zoo, and are leading fun Halloween games for kids in the clearing at the zoo entrance.
Boo at the Zoo's message is Gainesville "CAN" make a difference! Therefore, admission is one canned good per visitor. Last year, more than 6,000 visitors attended Boo at the Zoo, which donated canned goods to area food banks -- just in time to help people feed their families for the holidays.
Please bring a canned good, a bag to hold your candy, and a costume for the "wildest" Halloween trick-or-treat adventure in Gainesville. As always monetary donations are greatly appreciated.
