SAINTS ROLL PAST PASCO HERNANDO, 14-2
Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #23 Santa Fe (4-1-1) offense put up 14 runs on 18 hits on Friday afternoon and Ben O’Shea (2-0) struck out nine batters and surrendered only two hits in five innings of work as the Saints cruised past Pasco Hernando for their fourth win of the season. He has now struck out 18 batters in nine innings of work with only four hits given up.
The SF offense provided plenty of support for O’Shea, scoring four in the second inning on an RBI double by Jake Huxtable and back to back homeruns by Austin Lawrence (1) and Tim Remes (1).
Santa Fe added one in the third and seven more in the fifth. The first three came on a bases clearing double by Trey Griffin, and RBI double by Lawrence and RBI by Jordan Turner, Drew Doty and Jay Laurienzo. The Saints put two insurance runs on the board in the eighth on RBI hits by Huxtable and Garrett Greenwell.
Huxtable finished the game 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI, Laurienzo was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Lawrence 2-for-3 with a double, homerun and three RBI, Remes 2-for-2 with a homerun, Zach Taylor 2-for-4 with an RBI and TJ Spina finished 2-for-4.
The Saints travel to Avon Park to take on South Florida CC in a double header on February 5 at 12:00 pm. They return home on Monday, February 5 to battle Hillsborough CC at 3:00 pm.
