Celebrate spring, the end of the semester, and some of our most popular musicians at “Sing Into Spring,” Santa Fe College’s annual spring choral concert, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26 in the Fine Arts Hall.
“We’re singing choral favorites, but then we’re also doing a memorial section for Whitney Houston, Davy Jones, and Etta James,” said the concert’s director, Professor Lynn Sandefur. “You’ll get to hear the fabulous SF Three Tenors, and the unbelievable Il Divo group we have, which is comprised of nine male singers. They’ll be doing Nella Fantasia, one of my top five favorite songs of all time. And we’re introducing a new group, Three Divas. They’ll be singing a Puccini aria that is somewhat comedic.”
In addition, you’ll hear Katy Perry’s “Firework,” which they might also sing at Spring Commencement this year. Sandefur said they’re going to end the concert with a Gilbert and Sullivan finale with a theme of, “let’s go out and have a really good time and enjoy ourselves.”
Members of SF’s Jazz Band will accompany the Santa Fe Singers for at least a third of the songs.
The concert will be signed for the hearing impaired by Joan Freese (audience right).
“At this point in the semester, it’s just what the doctor ordered -– a relaxing, fun-filled evening,” said Sandefur.
Tickets are $15 for general seating, $12 balcony, $9 for seniors/children under 12/UF students, and FREE for anyone with an SF ID. Purchase your tickets online at www.sfcollege.edu/finearts or by calling the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181 or by dropping by the box office at the Fine Arts Hall.
