SF BASEBALL – 6/12/2012
Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore second baseman Shane Kennedy was named third team All-American by the National Junior College Athletics Association on Tuesday for his efforts during the 2012 season. Kennedy helped lead the Saints to their fourth straight Mid-Florida Conference title and State Tournament appearance.
“Shane had a great 2012 season and really carried us offensively at times in conference,” said SF Coach Johnny Wiggs. “It’s nice to see his efforts recognized by the NJCAA. We look forward to following his career as he heads to play for Clemson in the Atlantic Coast Conference.”
Kennedy, who will transfer and play for Clemson University next season, hit .364 with a team high 63 hits, 60 runs scored, eight homeruns, eight triples and 41 RBI. He also smashed nine doubles, stole 21 bases and slugged .647.
