Gainesville, FL –Seminole State College took the rubber game of a three game series on Saturday afternoon, using a five run sixth inning to pull away from the Saints for their second conference win of the season. The loss drops SF to 15-8 overall and 1-2 in MFC play and Seminole improves to 18-7 and 2-1.
The Raiders scored first, plating a run in the second but Santa Fe answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 2-1 advantage. Seminole scored one in the third and one in the fourth to retake the lead but SF again rebounded, pushing a run across on a Jarred Mederos RBI single to knot the score at 3-3.
SSC exploded in the sixth for five runs on five hits and two crucial Santa Fe errors.
The Saints managed one run in the ninth on a Caleb Denmark single but the rally was stopped there.
Clayton Wagner took the loss for the Saints, pitching in relief of starter Dylan Barrow.
Andrew Fears, Casey Scoggins, Caleb Denmark and Blake Berger had two hits each for Santa Fe.
The Saints continue conference play at home on Monday, March 11 against Lake Sumter CC at 3:00 PM.
