The Santa Fe Saints picked up a big double header sweep on Sunday afternoon at home against Eastern Florida, evening up their record at 9-9 in the process. Gina Eller came up with the big hit in game one to propel SF to a 3-1 victory, and the Saints held on in game two 6-5 after a late inning rally by the Titans.
Paola Flores started in the circle in game one and pitched five solid innings, giving way to Autumn Green for the final two innings. Gina Eller knocked in the eventual winning runs in the sixth, and Green finished what Flores started to earn the win.
In game two it was scoreless until the fifth when the Saints sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs on three hits. Chelsea Malcolm did the most damage, hitting her first homerun of the season, a grand slam to right field.
The Titans made things interesting in the seventh, scoring five runs on two homeruns before Autumn Green finished the game off in the circle to earn the save. Elizabeth Benson (1-0) got the win with 4.1 innings in relief.
Malcolm finished 1-for-3 with a homerun and four RBI, and Sarah Ortiz was 2-for-3.
SF will take a few days off before returning to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 26, at home against Northwest Florida State College at 2 p.m and 4 p.m.
