Santa Fe College is observing Open Education Week, March 27-31! What is that? It’s a global movement to create an awareness of the impact on education by using open (free/shared) educational resources (OER) instead of students having to purchase a textbook or other costly materials. Many of our faculty are already using OERs thus saving our students hundreds of thousands of dollars. Last semester, over 98 sections serving 2295 students, did not require a textbook and saved those students over $211,000. This semester: 122 sections, 3297 students, $367,000+ savings. If you are interested in using OERs for your class or you are currently using them, contact Debbie.Blair@sfcollege.edu (ext. 3812).
