SF Plumbing Program Gets Sand Box

The new sand box used by SF plumbing students.

October 2, 2018 – Santa Fe College’s Construction and Technical programs added a new training tool to the Charles R. Perry Construction Institute. It’s called a sand box. According to plumbing professor, Robert Brown, the purpose of the sand box is for “simulating underground plumbing rough-ins. This teaches plumbing students blueprint reading and to transform that knowledge into exact placement of plumbing fixtures during site preparation before a structure is built above it.”

This project times out well as our Construction Management AS degree students are currently in the process of learning site layout and surveying techniques, so they chipped in with the construction of the sand box.
