Santa Fe College Staff and Police Team Up for Duckling Rescue

Two ducks and five ducklings walking in a parking lot.

June 27, 2024 – This morning, Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus was the scene of a heartwarming rescue operation. A family of ducks faced a dire situation when five ducklings fell through a parking lot grate behind the Tyree Library.

The Santa Fe College Police Department and Facilities Services sprang into action. Facilities Services brought in a tractor and chain to lift the heavy grate. Rescuers descended into the depths to rescue the stranded ducklings.

Meanwhile, the library staff conducted a thorough search of the campus, hoping to find the remaining three ducklings and reunite them with their family. Despite their best efforts, the ducklings were not found.

The two rescued ducklings will be handed over to a wildlife rehabilitator, ensuring they receive the care they need.
