August 13, 2024 – The SF Achieve program is helping thousands of students achieve their college dreams and is looking for new mentors for the SF Achieve Scholars enrolling at SF in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
Launched three years ago as a partnership between SF and public schools in Alachua and Bradford Counties, SF Achieve aims to boost college attendance in these areas. The program provides college coaching and scholarships to ease the financial burden for public high school students in need.
To support these students, SF Achieve pairs them with SF faculty or staff members who serve as their mentors during their time at the college. The program needs at least 30 new mentors.
Mentors will check in with their assigned students each term and act as a point of contact, helping them connect with college resources. On average, mentoring takes no more than one hour per week. Training is provided through Canvas.
Only full-time employees can serve as mentors. SF Human Resources has confirmed that this mentorship is considered compensable time and should be included in the employee’s 40-hour work week.
For those interested in becoming new mentors, please fill out the form available at: sfcollege.secure.force.com/Forms/apex/b3f__formcomplete?id=a2m6S000001oaKEQAY&CaseId=%5bXXXXX.
For any additional questions, or if you are a current SF Achieve Mentor who feels you can mentor more students than already assigned, please contact Quinten Eyman, the Director of Recruitment and SF Achieve, at quinten.eyman@sfcollege.edu.
