September 16, 2024 – The Santa Fe Saints stepped into their first conference match Saturday, energized by a hard-fought five-set victory at Pasco-Hernando State College. Meanwhile, the Hillsborough Community College Lady Hawks were coming off a tough three-set loss to Florida Southwestern State College.
Each set found the Lady Hawks taking an early lead with the Saints fighting their way back, only for Hillsborough to pull ahead. Despite the Saints’ effort, the Lady Hawks came away with a 3-0 win.
“We didn’t give up,” Saints Head Coach Bailey Coleman said. “The effort wasn’t where we wanted it. Conference has started and we didn’t step up to the competition. We have to play better.”
The 6-4 Saints will take on Lake-Sumter State College on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at the SF Gym.
