Nominate and Celebrate: Veterans Appreciation Awards Event Announced

Santa Fe College's Clock Tower on the Northwest Campus.

September 17, 2024 – The Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with VyStar Credit Union, Santa Fe College, Veterans Health Services and Alachua County Veteran Services, will host the Veterans Appreciation Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the UF Hilton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event celebrates and honors individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the veteran community. Veterans and active-duty service members can attend the event free of charge.

The event will present several awards to recognize outstanding achievements:

  • Businesses Supporting Veterans: Awarded to a business that, through its practices and operations, supports the veteran community. The recipient is not required to be a veteran.
  • Citizenship Award: Given to veterans who have made a positive impact in the community.
  • Impact Award: Honors an outstanding employee in veteran services, open to both veterans and non-veterans.
  • Veteran Educators Higher/Achievement Education: Recognizes veterans who continue to serve by educating young people.
  • Veteran Educator at the K-12 Level: Awarded to veterans who educate youth at the primary and secondary levels.
  • Veteran First Responders and Healthcare Workers: Appreciates veterans serving on the front lines in justice or healthcare.
  • Veteran-Owned Business: Acknowledges businesses or organizations owned by veterans.
  • Lifetime Achievement Awards: Celebrates long-term contributions to the veteran community.

To recognize and celebrate exceptional individuals and businesses making a positive impact, everyone is encouraged to submit nominations for these prestigious awards.
