September 18, 2024 – The Santa Fe College Music Ensembles will open their Fall 2024-2025 concert season with “Winds & Classics,” an event featuring 15 student musicians under the musical direction of Dr. David Smith, Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music.

The doors open at 7:00 p.m., with music starting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. The event will be held at the Lyceum Concert Hall on Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus, 3000 NW 83 Street, Gainesville.

The concert is free but because of space limitations, tickets are required. To get tickets, call the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181 or visit showpass.com/winds-and-classics-4.

This year’s concert, themed “An Evening of Patriotic Favorites Celebrating America,” promises to be a memorable tribute to the country we cherish. Audiences can look forward to an uplifting evening filled with stirring music that captures the essence of American pride and patriotism.

“It is an honor to live in a country of opportunity, more importantly, ‘freedom,’” Smith said, “and is a daily reminder on how privileged we are to live in one of the greatest countries on the planet. So, I felt that it was appropriate to pay homage to our country by performing some of the greatest songs in American history that identify with our beautiful country.”

The concert’s program will feature a selection of iconic pieces, including “His Honor March” by Henry Filmore, “America, the Beautiful” by Samuel A. Ward, “Bells of Freedom” by David R. Gillingham, and many more.

Everyone is invited to attend this special event, which will not only showcase these timeless works but also highlight the dedication and talent of the college’s incredible students.

“Winds and Classics” is sponsored and organized by the Santa Fe College Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department.
