September 25, 2024 – As Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene approaches the state, Santa Fe College will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 26 and 27 to support the safety and well-being of students and employees. This fast-moving storm is expected to bring strong tropical storm and hurricane-force winds to the region, along with heavy downpours and the possibility of tornadoes.

The college is announcing this closure to provide students and employees with the opportunity to prepare before the storm and to assess any potential damage once it has passed. The storm is anticipated to move rapidly toward Florida upon entering the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone is encouraged to monitor the National Hurricane Center website for official information regarding Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene.

The college’s Emergency Management Team will continue to meet during the storm and will make recommendations based on conditions regarding when the college will be able to reopen. The community is asked to monitor the SF Alerts webpage for official updates from the college about the storm and plans to reopen.
