Introduction

Santa Fe’s New Fine Arts Hall

Santa Fe’s New Fine Arts Hall

This fall, Santa Fe will begin construction on a new home for the Arts at Santa Fe College – the Santa Fe Fine Arts Hall.  The official groundbreaking will take place in October, but site preparation will begin in August.

Yes, you will need to rearrange your parking preference if you were accustomed to the lot near the Library, but trust that, once construction is complete, all students and faculty alike will benefit from Santa Fe having a legacy for the cultural arts on our campus (more on traffic logistics below).

This beautifully designed building will be the focus for the dance, music, theatre and the visual arts on our campus. The 606-seat state-of-the-art hall, scheduled to open in Spring 2011, will house the successful SFC performing groups you have come to know such as:

  • Dance Theatre of Santa Fe
  • Santa Fe Singers
  • Santa Fe Jazz Ensemble
  • Theatre Santa Fe
  • Santa Vocal Jazz Pop Ensemble
  • Santa Fe Percussion Collective
  • Santa Fe Hand Drum Concert
  • Santa Fe Wind
  • Madrigal Singers
  • and Santa Fe’s newest touring pep band group, Santa Fe Impulse.

This new 39,600-square-foot, $17.2-million facility will significantly expand the educational offerings and broaden the performance opportunities in dance, music, theatre and the visual arts.

In the meantime, be sure to attend this coming season of cultural activity on the Northwest campus, as the Santa Fe fine art exhibits and performing art productions await the coming of a new venue.

Parking and traffic logistics

The week of Aug. 3, Lot 3 east of the Rock Cycle Garden will be fenced. Sitework activities begin Monday, Aug. 10. At this time traffic internally from North Road to Admin Road will be lost. Traffic will be moved to NW 83rd Street.

During the early construction phase a lot of soil will be removed from the construction site and will be trucked off campus. At this time we don’t know which direction this traffic this will take or the impact to our traffic. We will be monitoring our traffic issues during the construction phases of the FAH.
