Faces of Santa Fe

Name: Alanna Scaccia

Age: 20

Hometown: Naples, Florida

Major: Pharmacy

Intended transfer institution: UF

“I chose pharmacy because my mom’s a nurse and I used to work with her in her office,” said Alanna. “I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. Nursing – the blood, all that good stuff – I didn’t know if I could handle it. Pharmacy is a great medical option where I can help people.”

Alanna’s hobbies are four wheeling, fishing and anything outdoors.

“I’m more of a country girl,” she said. “I play softball with Shands. I love photography, especially photographing the Everglades back home.”

Why did she choose Santa Fe?

“It’s more of a family-type atmosphere here. Your classes are smaller. You get to know your teachers better and you feel more at home.

Alanna served as a Student Ambassador during the 2008-2009 school year, representing the college at events both on and off campus.

“I’ve had so many opportunities open up for me here. One of the teachers I had the first semester got me into the Honors Program. Everyone here is willing to help. The teachers want to see you succeed.”
