SF’s Building Safety Ambassador Program Wins Safety Standout Award

May 5, 2021 – Santa Fe College’s Building Safety Ambassador program was honored with a 2021 Safety Standout Award by Business and Learning Resources’ (BLR’s) Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Solutions Center.

The Building Safety Ambassador program received the award for Innovations in Safety Training. The program, which started at SF as a pilot program in 2019 was designed to provide additional safety and security measures by training employees across the Northwest Campus and all SF centers in CPR and Basic Life Support, evacuation drills, emergency procedures and more. Those who completed the program would be utilized across all college properties to assist first responders in the event of an emergency or hazardous situation.

A total of 14 SF employees completed the first class, which involved 13 hours of formalized training and continuing education. A new class of SF employees will begin the training to become Building Safety Ambassadors in May.

For additional safety information, visit the Emergency Procedures or Safety and Risk Management pages on SF’s website. Any SF faculty or staff member interested in serving the college community as a Building Safety Ambassador can contact Safety and Risk Management Coordinator, Marian Nesbitt at marian.nesbitt@sfcollege.edu.
