David Tegeder, Associate Professor of History at Santa Fe College, will be signing “Ditch of Dreams,” University of Florida Press, co-written with Steven Noll, Wednesday, Nov. 4, from noon until 1:30 p.m. in the Lawrence W. Tyree Library. Copies will be available to purchase at the signing. Light refreshments will be served.
“Ditch of Dreams” traces the story of the Cross-Florida Barge Canal, an idea conceived centuries ago. Intended to make Florida a center of commerce, federal funding was eventually allocated, despite the project being rejected by the Army Corps of Engineers as “not worthy.”
David Tegeder teaches history at Santa Fe College and the University of Florida. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Central Florida and in 1996 received his Ph.D. at the University of Florida.
