Health Information and Technology Week, Nov. 1-7

“Precision in Practice, Excellence in Care.”

What is HITM? The acronym HITM means Health Information Technology and Management. Individuals graduating from this program are fulfilling jobs in the health information management departments of hospitals, coding/biller jobs in physician offices, hospitals and outpatient departments, perform compliance activities within a compliance department of hospitals; just to name a few.

The HITM program is a program that is offered through Business programs at Santa Fe. It offers two programs; the medical/coder biller certificate and the health information technology program where the student graduates with an AS degree. Both programs enable the individual to take a national exam with the potential of them obtaining CCA (Certified Coding Associate) and/or the RHIT credential. The program is accredited through CAHIIM/AHIMA.

In a recent poll, HITM is listed number 4 in the top 10 most wanted jobs with salaries ranging from $16,00 to $74,000. HITM offers a great variety of opportunities for those who are wanting to work in the healthcare field. From medical coding and billing opportunities to compliance officer opportunities.

Please see the presentation in the PDF linked below that provides an overview of the opportunities available.
