Santa Fe College Hosting 55th Annual Meeting of the Florida Philosophical Association

The Department of Humanities and Foreign Languages at Santa Fe College is proud to announce it is hosting the 55th Annual Conference of the Florida Philosophical Association (FPA) on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14.

The FPA’s mission is to promote philosophy in Florida by encouraging the exchange of ideas among those who engage in this field of inquiry, by encouraging investigation, by encouraging the educational function of philosophy, and by improving the academic status of philosophy. 

Several of Santa Fe’s professors will be giving papers, and the keynote speaker, whom Santa Fe is sponsoring, is the renowned philosopher Dr. Ernest Sosa, whose books include Knowledge in Perspective, Epistemic Justification, A Virtue Epistemology, and Reflective Knowledge. Sosa is the Board of Governors Professor of Philosophy at Rutgers University. (Sosa’s website)

“Dr. Sosa is one of the most famous and important philosophers of our time,” said Dr. Bill Little, Chairman of Humanities and Foreign Languages at Santa Fe.

Sosa’s presentation is from 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. A complete schedule is available online. Presentations are upstairs in P Building at Santa Fe’s Northwest campus, 3000 NW 83rd St.

The conferences is open to the general public. The fee schedule is as follows: faculty $25, graduate students, $10, undergraduate students, $5, general admission, $25.
