Rhonda Peyton’s Images Selected for National Exhibition

Two of Rhonda Peyton’s layered paper images, “This Day” (right) and “Judy in the Vines,” were recently selected for Columbia College’s “Paper in Particular” national exhibition, which opens on Feb. 2 and runs through March 4.

You might remember seeing her images if you attended the Digital Media Faculty Art Show in the Santa Fe Gallery earlier this fall. They were hung on the back wall, suspended over light boxes.

Approximately 600 entries were submitted for the Paper in Particular exhibition, and the juror, Bradlee Shanks, a professor at the University of South Florida, selected 77 works.

“I was very excited to have two selected although I was really surprised that they didn’t choose ‘Running Away’ [an image of a little boy with a grumpy face and his things packed to run away from home],” said Peyton, Associate Professor in Graphic Design Technology.

Columbia College is in Columbia, Mo., and they have a number of satellite locations across the country, including a Center for Book and Paper Arts in Chicago. In 2005, Columbia’s Chicago location selected two of Peyton’s artist’s books for its 4th International Book and Paper Arts Triennial.

Congratulations!
