#4 SAINTS SWEEP #3 TALLAHASSEE CC, 3-0 AND 5-2
Tallahassee, FL – Colena Lazar (8-0) dominated game one of the double header Tuesday night, striking out a career high and school record 16 batters (breaking Rachel Foster and Trish Davis’record of 15) in route to her eighth straight win to start her Santa Fe career. Sophomore Lawna Hunter put an exclamation point on the two game sweep in the seventh inning of the second game with a two run HR to boost SF past the #3 team in the state of Florida.
Lazar was nearly untouchable in game one, giving up only three hits in the shutout effort and baffled the TCC batters, striking out 16. Taylor Pangilinan knocked in two of the Saints three runs with a double, Ashley Peterson was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Britany Doty, Alexis Sowell and Gia Tomossone had one hit each.
In game two, the Saints (13-3) outhit TCC 8-5, with Jasmine Warren (5-2) picking up the win on the mound. Jaimee Vega finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Ashley Peterson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Hunter, 2-for-4, came up with the big hit for the Saints when she hit a two run HR in the top of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie.
The Saints will have a day off before returning to the field for a home doubleheader against Edward Waters College on Thursday at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
