LAZAR NAMED FCCAA PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Gainesville, FL – FCCAA #2 Santa Fe College’s Colena Lazar is this week’s FCCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. Lazar, a freshman from Dade City, Fla., was 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 32 strikeouts in only 16 innings pitched.
Against then-No. 3 Tallahassee on February 23, the lefty struck out 16 batters (a school record, breaking Rachael Foster and Trish Davis’s record of 15) in a 3-0 shutout of the Eagles. The next day, she struck out five in only two innings of work and picked up the win against Edward Waters. She closed the week with another double-digit strikeout effort, recording 11 K’s against Palm Beach State. For the week, Lazar allowed only six hits in her 16 innings of work.
