SIX RUN SEVENTH INNING PROPELS SAINTS TO MFC VICTORY, 11-4

Gainesville, FL – Joe Clouse started a six run rally in the seventh inning with his first homerun of the season, breaking a 4-4 tie and giving the Saints (12-12, 3-5 MFC) their third Mid-Florida Conference win of the season over Florida State College-Jacksonville.

Ken Wise started on the mound for SF and pitched 5.2 innings.  He gave up only two hits and three earned runs, but struggled with his control, walking seven.

Daryl Barnes (2-3) pitched the final 3.1innings and earned the win, giving up no runs on only one Stars hit.

Santa Fe took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Mike Miranda.  FSC-J answered with a run in the top of the second and the Saints came right back with another run in the second on an RBI by Corey Elasik.

The Saints put two more runs on the board in the fourth, building a 4-1 lead.  FSC-J tied things up in the sixth with three runs on one hit and three SF errors.

With the score tied in the seventh, the Santa Fe bats exploded for six runs on six hits.  Clouse started things off with a homerun.  Corey Elasik doubled home a run, TJ Lawrence, Ricky Claudio and Mike Miranda singled runs home and Brett Bozeman knocked in the sixth run of the inning.

Miranda put an exclamation point on the win with his third RBI of the game on a double in the eighth inning.  He now has 41 on the season.

Lead-off batter Austin Lawrence finished the game 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI, Miranda was 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI and Jeff Moyer was 2-for-3.

The Saints home stand continues tomorrow when Central Florida CC comes to town for a MFC game at 1:00pm.
