SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH FSC-J, 6-7 AND 7-3
Jacksonville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (39-7, 17-3 MFC) gave up a 6-2 lead in game one of a doubleheader at Florida State College-Jacksonville, committing four errors to fall 7-6. SF rallied in game two to earn a split with the Stars. Santa Fe remains two games ahead of FSC-J in the MFC standings and one game ahead of Seminole State College.
Colena Lazar (23-2) started on the mound and gave up seven runs, with three earned.
The Saints outhit the Stars 9-7 in the loss. Britany Doty was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Jaimee Vega was 2-for-3, Ashley Curry was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Alexis Sowell, Gia Tomossone and Lawna Hunter had one hit apiece.
Santa Fe rebounded in game two behind the pitching of Jasmine Warren and pulled out a 7-3 victory. Warren (15-4) gave up three runs on seven hits to win her fifteenth game.
The Saints piled up seven runs on 13 hits. Mandi Brown finished game two 3-for-4 with an RBI, Taylor Pangilinan was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Colesa Lazar 3-for-3 and Britany Doty 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Santa Fe’s next doubleheader is on Tuesday at home against MFC second place Seminole State College at 2:30pm.
