We had a great packing party Wednesday. We had 12 volunteers and packed 14 boxes to ship out tomorrow. (We missed Anne Marie Mattison, who is on vacation.)

What was shipped
Each box was filled with Gainesville Today’s “local Salute to Gainesville Troops” magazine which features an article on Operation CarePak on pages 14-15, individual drink mixes, razors, white socks, DVDs, CDs, playing cards, a bag of coffee, beef jerky, mints/hard candy, chapstick and more. Each box also includes a special patriotic DVD created by Ron Slawson, retired SF College instructor, along with a thank-you letter to the troops that is signed by all of the Operation CarePak volunteers.
Next week, we will be purchasing ground coffee in bags (special request by the troops) and mailing those boxes out along with Girl Scout cookies that were donated to Operation CarePak.
Sept. 1 next packing party
