COLENA LAZAR NAMED NJCAA ALL-AMERICAN
Gainesville, FL – Colena Lazar finished her Santa Fe College playing career as one of the most prolific pitchers in the history of the program and was rewarded once again for her efforts this week by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
On June 1, the NJCAA announced their All-American selections and Lazar was named to the Third Team, adding to her Second Team selection in 2010. Last week the NFCA released their All-Region selections, placing Lazar on the All-South Region Second Team.
In her sophomore season, Lazar finished with a 31-9 record and set the single season record for strikeouts (318) and shutouts (16).
She set Santa Fe career marks in wins (57), shutouts (26), strikeouts (597), no hitters (6) and innings pitched (454.1)
