One of the largest theatre festivals in the South is right in your own backyard! The 55th annual Florida Theatre Conference Festival includes workshops in all areas of theatre – including singing, acting, pantomime, dance, stage combat, directing, make up, costume, play writing, and all technical areas of the stage.
The secondary school one-act play competition, community theatre play festival, and shows presented by theatre for youth will be hosted at Santa Fe College’s new Fine Arts Hall. Inexpensive day passes are available for the community and youth theatre festival (first come, first served only).
The festival will provide the venue where junior and senior secondary students, and transferring community/state college students may audition for the many colleges and universities represented at the festival. Two scholarships will be awarded at the festival to deserving secondary school students. The festival also hosts the screening auditions for participation at the Southeastern Theatre Conference.
In addition, a College Fair and Vendor Expo is organized to provide the full scope of academic opportunities for arts students.
Santa Fe has a beautiful campus that is walking accessible, includes a food court, lush grounds, and ample parking. The Florida Theatre Conference has blocked hotel rooms nearby to ensure a reasonable rate, and will provide bus transportation to and from campus for your ease and safety.
We look forward to seeing you at the festival. Come help us celebrate our 55th anniversary!
The festival beings Thursday, Oct. 27 and ends on Saturday, Oct. 29. The event will take place in the Fine Arts Hall, the E building Auditorium, workshop classrooms, R-101 and S-29/30.
