Horror Film Making Class

Horror Film Making Class

Dust off those hockey masks and crank up your chainsaws, Digital Media Professor Marc Shahboz will again be teaching a course on horror cinema and production.

THE 2925.002 (Horror Film Making) will be offered on Monday and Wednesday mornings during the Spring A term. The class will focus primarily on the second generation of American horror films and explore the work of scream icons John Carpenter and George Romero as well as a host of others.

In addition to exploring the exploits of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, students will also be exposed to both classic and modern cinema production and screen acting techniques. Projects for the class include the writing of a short horror screenplay and the creation of a short horror film in conjunction with Digital Media video (IMP) students.

Students will also have the opportunity to work with teams from Digital Media as part of the Second Annual Santa Fe College 48 Hour Film Competition.

The class is a collaboration between the Fine Arts Department and Digital Media. To register contact Alora Haynes in Fine Arts and for class information please contact Marc Shahboz.
