CENTRAL FLORIDA DEFEATS SANTA FE, 78-56
Ocala, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (14-3, 0-1 MFC) struggled to slow down the College of Central Florida on Saturday night in both team’s Mid-Florida Conference opener, falling to the Patriots 78-56.
CCF (14-5, 1-0 MFC) came out firing and led 19-6 at the 10 minute mark. The Saints made a run and cut the Patriot lead to single digits with under one minute to go in the half, but back to back three pointers just ten seconds apart for Central Florida put them ahead 40-28 at the break.
The Patriots picked up where they left off in the second half, draining three straight three pointers in the first three minutes to build a 48-30 lead. From there CCF never looked back and finished off the 78-56 win to start off 1-0 in MFC play.
Brian Holmes led SF in scoring with 14 points, Kevin Harden scored 13, and Junior McLeod added nine.
The Saints play their first home MFC game of the season on Wednesday, January 11 against Daytona State College at 8:00 PM.
