Fulbright Scholar Coming to SF

Congratulations to Dr. Bill Little, Chair of the Humanities and Foreign Languages department, whose grant application to have Santa Fe host another Fulbright scholar-in-residence in 2012-2013 was recently approved and funded.  We have requested a scholar with general interests in South American society and culture who will be able to teach and visit classes across the campus.  Again, congratulations to Bill, to Joan Suchorski in the Office for Development, and to everyone who worked on the project.

New Department on Campus

As some of you know, all of the college’s education programs-our lower- and upper-division early childhood education programs, our university-transfer education curriculum, and our post-baccalaureate Educator Preparation Institute for alternative teacher certification-have been united to form a new academic department with a new leader.  Since all of these programs are devoted to teacher training and to best practices in education, bringing the programs together made good sense.  The chair of the new department, Dr. Tyran Butler, has worked in public schools, at the University of Florida, and in the Florida Virtual School, and I want to take this opportunity to welcome her to campus.  Her office is in B-214, and please stop by to say hello when you have a chance.
