CARTER AND THE SAINTS NAIL 15 THREE POINTERS IN 83-58 WIN OVER IMG

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints were on fire from long range Thursday night, hitting 15 three pointers in route to the 83-58 win over IMG Academy. The win moves nationally ranked #20 SF to 21-3 on the season.

“We moved the ball well tonight against their 1-3-1 zone and knocked down our open looks,” said SF coach Chris Mowry. “We only had eight players dress and each one of them contributed tonight.”

The game was never in doubt for the saints, who built a double digit lead 10 minutes into the game and led 38-23 at the halftime break.

Santa Fe exploded in the second half, making 11 three over the final 20 minutes, including four by Paul Stone and two each by Altavious Carter and Matt Conway.

A 19-10 run over the final eight minutes, paced by back to back to back threes by Carter, Brian Holmes and Paul Stone put the game out of reach.

Carter led SF with 17 points, Pual Stone had 16, Brian Holmes scored 15 to go with five assists and Matt Conway scored 13.

“We have a little bit of a break before our next game,” said Mowry. “Hopefully we can keep the momentum going against St. John’s.”

Next up for Santa Fe is a home game against St. John’s River State College on Wednesday, February 8 at 8:00 PM. The SF women host Hillsborough CC at 6:00 PM.
