Recently Mike Patrick and Greg Mead, through a kind donation from President Jackson Sasser, reserved a place at the University of Florida Geology Department’s new Outcrop of Honor. Soon, a plaque with the legend “The Geology Faculty and Pres. Jackson Sasser, Santa Fe College” will be placed on a beautiful slab of white pegmatite to show the close ties between the geology programs at SF and UF.
The photo shows them presenting the check to the chair of the Geology Department at UF, Dr. Michael Perfit. Every year, several students who graduate from SF begin their geological careers at UF.
