Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe took game one of a double header 3-2 on Saturday afternoon against Tallahassee CC, clinching the three game series after winning Friday 12-1.  TCC (13-5) salvaged the second game of the double header, defeating SF 7-4.

Santa Fe (16-5) trailed 2-0 heading into the fifth inning of game one, but rallied for three runs, enough for relievers Josh Larson and Caleb Denmark.  Trey Griffin and Shane Kennedy knocked in runs on back to back at bats and Drew Doty scored the winning run on a throwing error by the TCC catcher.

Lawrence Pardo started on the hill, but struggled surrendering two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. Larson (1-0) relieved him in the second and no hit the Eagles through 4.1 innings, giving way to Denmark in the seventh.  Denmark picked up his third save with a 1-2-3 inning.

Griffin finished game one 2-for-3 with an RBI and Doty was 2-for-3.

After scoring just three combined runs through the first two games of the series, TCC finally broke through in the final game, scoring seven runs on 10 hits and three Santa Fe errors.

The Saints opened the scoring in the first on an RBI single by Griffin, knocking in Mallex Smith who tripled to start the game.

TCC took control from there, scoring seven unanswered runs to build a 7-1 lead.

Santa Fe rallied in the seventh for three runs on four hits and brought the tying run to the plate with one out, but came up just short.

JT Simpson (3-1) took the loss for Santa Fe.

Mallex Smith was the lone Saint with multiple hits.  He finished 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.

The Saints travel to New Port Richey on Monday, February 27 for a game against Pasco-Hernando CC at 3:00 PM.  They open Mid-Florida Conference play on Friday, March 2 at home against Daytona State College.
